Speakeasy

By: Jake Westerkamp, Dustin Downs, Jacob Rogers

It’s early 1930’s America. Right in the midst of the Great Depression, the American citizens try to live through one of the country’s darkest time periods. Some people need ways to make money, others just need a way to escape the present; whether it be for better or worse, both of these ends come together to a singular point: alcohol.

Speakeasy is a game that takes place in the prohibition era where alcohol is illegal and the black market has risen. Players take the role of speakeasy’s and gain notoriety by buying and selling various types of alcohol. Be careful though, the higher your notoriety, the more likely you’ll be busted by the police. Avoid this by keeping some of your alcohol in your storage. Although, be wary of the transit time when sending and retrieving alcohol from your storage.

When your notoriety increases, more people enter the market giving more opportunities for buying and selling. With a high police level, there is an added risk of buying and selling. Will you play it safe or will you take a risk for that transaction? While players share the market, notoriety level, and police level, the player with the most currency in the end takes home the victory. How notorious will you be?
